Ouseley Andante in D

Stainer Andante Pathetique

Parry Fantasia and Fugue in G

In the 155th anniversary of the founding of Keble College, this programme explores the musician at the forefront of the Oxford Movement: Frederick Ouseley. From Christ Church graduate Ouseley and the riots at St Barnabas Pimlico, to Magadalen College Informator choristarum and pupil of OuseleyJohn Stainer and his reforms at St Paul’s Cathedral, we come to Hubert Parry (who had astonished Ouseley when the latter was Heather Professor of Music at Oxford University), at that time the youngest person ever to have successfully sat the Oxford Bachelor of Music examination in 1867.
